The route will be the 2025 Road Apple Roubaix‘s 50 mile route. It is a road course with about 10 miles of gravel county roads in the heart of Amish Country with the rest on paved roads. Expect to see the Amish community out and about traveling to church. A road bike with 28 mm tires will work perfectly, but if you have a gravel bike, bring it. I anticipate the pace to be mid moderate, but hard to determine with the gravel so we will ride at a pace that keeps everyone in the group. No riders will be dropped. Bring enough food and hydration for a 50 mile ride. Rest stops as necessary. Food afterwards at Slim and Jumbo‘s.

Day/Time: Saturday morning (less traffic = safer roads)
---
About the Route
This is an experimental route I’m developing. I’ll make improvements in the future, but for now I’m keeping it small — just a few riders to test the flow and see if it’s in the best interest of the group. The starting location will not change.
On Mahoning Ave for only 0.7 mile (downhill stretch hitting ~30+ mph).
Turn onto Four Mile Run, cross Meridian Rd, then head into Mill Creek.
Inside Mill Creek, the route passes three lakes: Lake Glacier, Lake Cohasset, and Lake Newport.
Loop back through Youngstown city streets and finish at the shop.
---
Route Highlights
Distance: ~21 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,183 ft
Sponsored by The Youngstown Tune-Up Co. (car shop)
Scenic + challenging Mill Creek sections
Passes 3 lakes (Glacier, Cohasset, Newport)
Short Mahoning Ave stretch only (0.7 mi, safe downhill)
Avoids brake-heavy neighborhoods ? less wear & maintenance
