As of March 21, 2017, motorists will be legally required to allow at least three feet of clearance when passing bicyclists. Jim Dobran, OSW club president, was interviewed by the local news about the new law and its affect on cycling safety.

Kids at the recent Akron Children's Hospital Bike Rodeo in Boardman Park receive bike safety booklets provided by the Outspokin' Wheelmen. The pamphlets outline the rules for safe riding on sidewalks for the younger users and the streets for older bicyclists. With the handouts the club seeks to encourage would-be cyclists - and future members - to learn early the basics of having fun while staying safe on two wheels.
